The Crucible – quite pertinent to modern blacklisting of people that vocal minority groups disagree with and want to silence. The harm created by the hysteria of children treated as though adults and just assumed to tell the truth is a frightening concept. It is dark, violent and chilling.
Alice’s Adventures in Wonderland – I read this as a child and didn’t understand all of the stories but enjoyed the adventure and imagery and the language which expanded my youthful vocabulary. I re-read it as an adult and understood the symbolisation better. I love the power of imagination and dreams.
Any romance books by Nora Roberts just for escapism, I like her style of writing, her trilogies the easy reading books that celebrate love, commitment, relationships with great female characters.
